Alpine Tranquility and Gateway to Adventure in the Heart of the Snowy Mountains

For ALPINE PEAKS above 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in excess of 125 km/h are likely today. The risk of DAMAGING WIND GUSTS is expected to ease during the late evening and into early Sunday morning.  
          
          For remaining areas (below 1900 metres): Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 to 100 km/h are also likely about mostly elevated terrain in the southern ranges from late this morning, but also possible about lower lying areas of the South Coast. Winds are expected to ease this evening. 
          
          DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h are also possible with showers and thunderstorms across much of the state today. A separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued if this occurs.
          Locations which may be affected include Eden, Cooma, Braidwood, Bega, Moruya Heads and Bombala.  
          
          
          100 km/h was recorded at Thredbo at 7:19 am.

Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Sunday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the Snowy Mountains forecast district. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
