Mulwala is located on the northern shores of the Murray River and Lake Mulwala, just across the waterway from the Victorian town of Yarrawonga. The town's commercial centre is situated along Melbourne Street which borders the extensive waters of Lake Mulwala, where there are several boat ramps, small harbours, parks and a swimming enclosure. Mulwala is popular with fishing and boating enthusiasts, while the Yarrawonga & Border Golf Course, claimed to be the the largest public access golf resort in Australia with a 45 hole course, is centrally located in town. There are two water crossings between Mulwala and Yarrawonga. At the Yarrawonga Weir, Gulai Road spans the top of the dam wall structure, while a 500 metre long bridge across the lake links Mulwala's main thoroughfare of Melbourne Street with Yarrawonga's commercial heart in Belmore Street. |
