Welcome to Lithgow

Lithgow is a city located in the western foothills of the Blue Mountains, between the mountain village of Mount Victoria to the south and the large historic inland city of Bathurst further west.

Lithgow enjoyed an industrial boom from the 1860s with flourishing coal mining and iron smelting works, although much of that declined during the following century.

The city centre consists of a one kilometre strip of shops along Main Street dotted with historic buildings from the town's early days, and a shopping centre with major stores on the east side of Lithgow Street.

Several attractive gardens and reserves can be found in Lithgow. Across the road from the Theatre Royale in Main Street is the shady Queen Elizabeth Park with its rose gardens, rotunda, war memorial, water features and picnic areas.

Surrounded by nature with stunning scenery and lookouts, Lithgow is a convenient base for exploring the attractions of the Blue Mountains and is the gateway to the rich country heartland of New South Wales.
