Cooma information and attractions

Introduction:

Cooma is a major service town located to the east of the Snowy Mountains between Bega and Tumut.

The town itself features a bustling commercial centre and attractive parkland including Centennial Park where an avenue of international flags honours those immigrants who worked on the hydroelectric Snowy Mountains scheme.

Cooma is a handy base for exploring the attractions of the Snowy Mountains including the resort town of Jindabyne, located 45 minutes away and the region's snow fields and mountain villages.

A state of the art visitor facility, located just north of Cooma, which showcases the story of the scheme's construction and the important role it has today
Cooma Monaro Railway
A tourist railway between Cooma and Chakola offering visitors a ride on restored vintage railmotors

Cooma Show
Enjoyed by thousands of people each year, the show features pavilions of local produce and stock, demonstrations, live entertainment and a woodchop carnival
